15-Minute Bolognese Spaghetti by Liana Kamel

Need a quick yet heartwarming dinner idea? This 15-minute Bolognese Spaghetti, lovingly prepared by 10-year-old Liana Kamel, is proof that simple ingredients and creativity make magic. A comforting, kid-approved classic with ground beef, served with fresh basil and parmesan — perfect for busy evenings or cooking together as a family.

Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric (Curcuma)
  • 60 ml water
  • 200g lean ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp bio low-fat tomato paste
  • 250g spaghetti
  • Parmesan cheese, to taste
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)
  • Garlic-infused olive oil (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Base
    In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté chopped onions until translucent.
  2. Add Ground Beef
    Add ground beef and cook until browned. Break up the meat as it cooks.
  3. Season & Simmer
    Add turmeric, water, salt, black pepper, and tomato paste. Stir well and let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  4. Cook the Spaghetti
    In the meantime, boil spaghetti in salted water for 8–9 minutes or until al dente.
  5. Assemble & Serve
    Drain the pasta, serve on plates, and spoon the bolognese over the top. Garnish with grated parmesan, basil, and a drizzle of garlic-infused olive oil.
